Our Massalit alphabet has 10 vowels and 24 consonants.

Some special characters in the Massalit alphabet are:
ŋ, which may be written as ng in the English alphabet, and
n̰, which may be written as ny in the English alphabet.

Therefore, “How many children do you have?” is spelled “Maŋ kimin̰ ŋganna neyoŋ?”
These letters conform to the Chadian national alphabet.
If you have downloaded all our books, you may notice that certain words are spelled differently in different books. We have made changes to the spelling system a few times, and some of the books have the older spelling. The books with the newest spellings are Kitab 2 (Book 2) and the Kuji (Dictionary).
